Ziegler Carpets
Current pieces that recall the old Zieglers of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Ziegler was an Anglo-Swiss company that produced carpets in Persia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries working mainly in the areas of Tabriz and sultanabab, its designs were inspired by the traditional Persian carpets although with important modifications using modern dyeing techniques and the best artisans of those areas, its creations were characterized by a palette of soft colors and floral designs without a central medallion.
Currently “Ziegler Carpets” or “Chubi Carpets” is the term with which we know the carpets woven today and inspired by the old Ziegler, which is why their price is substantially lower than the originals, being produced in different countries especially in Pakistan and Iran.
The original Zieglers, even if they do not have a high density of knots, are usually highly valued in the world of rugs.
